I confess I'm interested in doing it to find out what the language will be.

If it's Corsican, hell yesssss!
Otherwise yes, unless it's French or Gaelic.
Does one need to learn from scratch?

Re: Anyone interested in piloting a new website...?
Thanks to everyone who has replied so far - it's very much appreciated, particularly as I'm worried what my supervisor's going to say about me saying "I'll get my participants off the internet".
The plan at the moment is to aim at a course for absolute beginners. False beginners will be accepted onto the study, as if there's enough of them, that gives another dimension to the data (I'm interested in the difference between beginners and false beginners personally, so although that's not the focus of this study, if the data's there, I'd be looking to publish somehow or other anyway).
In fact, it's possible that I might put in a limited test of some advanced language points if the initial stuff goes well and I've still got time, but I've been known to be overambitious, so for now the only plan is the beginners' stuff.

Re: Anyone interested in piloting a new website...?
Many thanks to all who're interested. Just a heads-up to say that it looks like there will only be Scottish Gaelic and English versions, and I'm looking to kick things off at the start of June. I'll understand if there are things that stop you taking part.
Each session should take between ten minutes and half an hour, and it should be four sessions a week for 3 weeks.
(I'll try to put some bonus material in for people who want to keep playing around with it after the end of the test, but obviously my priority is getting the data for my masters.)
I should be putting up an opt-in form online with a questionnaire on language background by the end of the week which will have fuller details, but what I'll say just now is that my research is into the effect of different question types and the ordering of question types. Each participant will be assigned into a group that will see the material a particular way, and I'll see what's most effective. I'm following the lead of previous research, but I can't say what now, as that might affect my results. However, I'll be sure to post a summary of my findings here once I've submitted my dissertation.
Thanks again!

Gaelic? Why not - it's not on my list, absolute beginner and do not currently plan to study it beyond the test period.
If you change and decide to work with a different language I'm in as long as it is not a constructed language, I do not do conlangs.

Heh... me neither. I had considered looking at using one of the mini-conlangs specifically invented for language acquisition research, but my heart wasn't in it. Besides -- here in Scotland there are quite a few people who are genuinely interested in Gaelic but never get round to learning it, so I figure I've got a good pool of potential participants if I can get the message out (and also I think I can get the message out really quickly via the Gaelic network).
Not to mention that there's a Gaelic text-to-speech engine that's free to all university staff and students in Scotland for research purposes. Very handy.

How similar are Scottish and Irish Gaelic?
