Active forums in languages other than English

Postby arthaey » Fri Jan 20, 2017 4:44 pm

I asked a while about recommendations for language-learning forums in non-English, but didn't get much of a response.

How about active non-English forums (or other online communities), on any topic at all? Suggest an online community you're a part of, where we could go to have real conversations in our TLs. :)

I wish I could give the OP more than one vote. Great question!

Лингвофорум is a quite big Russian forum about linguistics and apparently also language learning. It even has sections in other languages.

Which languages (and topics) are you interested in? There are forums about all sorts of things, eg. in Spanish i know of:
http://www.alasbarricadas.org/forums/ - "foro anarquista para el debate y contacto entre compañeros"
http://www.hhgroups.com/foros/ - one of the biggest sites about rap/hip-hop in Spanish
http://forum.wordreference.com/forums/sólo-español.45/ - the Spanish Wordreference forums are pretty active as well.

and a quick search showed up:
https://www.spaniards.es/foros - a bit of everything, also has a section dedicated to learning languages
http://www.elforo.com/ - same as above, really
http://www.forosperu.net/ - and again

There are also tons of forums dedicated to video games, literature, vegetarianism, music, etc. For smaller languages it might be a bit harder, but i don't think you'd have much trouble finding anything interesting in Spanish, French, or German.

http://www.englisch-hilfen.de/board/index.php, this is a German forum for English learners; beneficial for English speakers to practice their German and to contribute advice for English learners.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far. Keep them coming! :)

I personally am interested in Spanish, French, and German for now, on a variety of topics.

But I would love for the responses to this thread to be helpful to other forum members. So any language (besides English) and any topic is fair game!

Perhaps you could compile a list of people's responses in the first post of the thread? :D
