New discussion thread containing links, et cetera:

Turkish language resources - A language learners' forum, October 2017
https://forum.language-learners.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7178&p=88264#p88264

Then again, as I agree with Serpent’s observation that no one clicks on links, here is the discussion:
Dylan95 wrote:While I am not certain, I'm thinking about studying Turkish from scratch. It's a language that I have wanted to learn for a long time, and I have two friends where I moved who are native Turkish speakers, so I think now would be a good time to begin.

Does anyone have any advice for resources I could use?
FSI and wikibooks have programs, but aside from that I'm not sure where else I should look.

Also, if I were to study Turkish for an hour a day until the middle of July. What would be a reasonable goal? Would basic conversational skills, and the ability to read newspapers in Turkish be achievable given such a timeline?
Speakeasy wrote:While I have not studied the Turkish language and have no intention of doing so, it seems that I bookmarked a number of discussion threads with which you may wish to familiarize yourself. In addition, from my not-so-reliable memory, I believe that the resident experts on the language are Daristani and Chung.

I just watched episode #1 of 46 Yok Olan. It looks really good. No spoilers from me, but there's some pseudo-science, some hallucinogens, some cultural appropriation, one or more murder mysteries, and of course a deranged protagonist. It's so helpful to be learning a language where they care about their TV quality. :)

Feels like Turkish is becoming the new Russian on this board ...

It's not available in Brazil. As for the Turkish one that is available, it doesn't have Turkish subtitles, only the FIGS, Portuguese and English.

Hello friends, I'm new here and a Turkish teacher.

If you're interested in learning Turkish with a 30-day video course, please check out the "Speaking Turkish in 30 Days" video course from the link below:

Turkishaholic's Speaking Turkish in 30 Days Video Course:
https://turkishaholic.com/speaking-turkish-video

Also please let me know if you liked it or tell me what things I can do to make it better (perhaps for my next video courses).

DLI Turkish Headstart (1982)
I have sent Éric Streit a digitised copy of the DLI Turkish Headstart course for hosting on his Yojik.eu website. Daristani and I collaborated on the preparation of the materials. Please give Eric a couple of days to attend to the details. Yojik Website. ;)

As I have worked through a number of the vintage DLI Headstart courses, a couple of features of this one surprised me: (1) although, as for the others in the series, this is a familiarization course, the DLI Turkish Headstart course seems to aim for a somewhat higher level than the average one in the series, (2) the introduction to the language differs somewhat from the run-of-the-mill DLI Headstart course in that, although dialogues are used, there seems to be a heavy reliance on frequency/structural drills à la méthode audio-lingual, and (3) the cadence of speech of the native speakers is, to my unpracticed ears, unforgivingly fast for an elementary language course. Still, as it is this speed that users of the course will actually encounter in the real world, this will prove to be an unexpected advantage of these materials. By the way, the 14 audio cassettes total approximately 10 hours of recordings.

I would very much enjoy hearing Daristani’s comments (the Great Daristani) on this course.

Simplified versions of world classics in Turkish here.

I bought 5 and have read one so far (Sefiller). I can vouch for the quality of the books and a trouble-free purchase process.
