Sorry, but I don't understand you.
What have speakers of Pashto to do with it? I meant the authors of some language handbooks.

Let me quote myself:
I'm sure you're not trying to tell me that 'sink, think, sing' are pronounced the same in English, but they are by most Polish learners.
'Wine' is not the same as 'vine' as some Germans say it.


And they do it exactly because they haven't precticed their minimal pairs. And the didn't do it, because the authors didn't draw their attention to that simple solution.

Basically I'm wondering if you have anyone who is helping with your pronunciation, someone who speaks the languages you want to learn. I have a feeling the reason why some of the textbooks you are looking at don't focus a lot on pronunciation is because they're meant to be used with an instructor. That leaves you a bit SOL if you don't have access to someone who speaks the language.

Speakers from Pakistan?
You must be joking. They'd think I'm a CIA agent.

At least one of the Urdu hanbooks was meant for self-learners.
