Where are all those Spanish audiobooks?
Recently I was trying to find a website with substantial amount of Spanish language audiobooks. Surprisingly enough, it seems they are not that common as one would except judging from the large population of native speakers. I'm not interested in audiobooks created by voice synthesizers and I do not enjoy audibooks recorded by non professional performers (although I greatly appreciate their often voluntary, non paid effort. It's not their fault, it's mine). Now, of the sites listed here: http://www.julianmarquina.es/17-sitios- ... diolibros/ the Spanish version of audioteca seems to have most items in the category that interests me (detective stories). The problem is, that the Czech version of Audioteka lists more audiobooks than does the Spanish one! Leaving aside Latin America, I would except Spain alone to be able to produce more audiobooks than the Czech Republic based exclusively on the respective population numbers. Am I doing something terribly wrong on my quest to find Spanish audiobooks or they are really so few? Even American Audible (or, to be more precise, its Spanish part) is not that well equipped, at least when it comes to detective stories.

There should be enough content to keep one busy for a few years.

(Un)fortunately a high number of native speakers does not dictate the availability or the quality of cultural products. Spanish speakers seem to have high tolerance for synthesized voices.
