Contes de la bécasse. I should have mentioned that yesterday. And the quote is only part of a sentence, which is why "une" was not capitalized. But I'm glad that's how I quoted it, because we see that a good grammar checker can detect that kind of error. Thanks.
I've just done some tinkering with my settings for Word. Now it detects the errors with "une" and "clouaient." What I did was have it check grammar as I typed. I changed my preference only after I typed the sentence, but it detected the errors anyway.
When I type the sentence in Writer, Writer automatically changes "une" to "Une." It still lets "clouaient" slide. The reason for that is that (now I remember) I never downloaded a French grammar checker for Libre Office.
