Immersion tips for Chinese

Postby jacob_kap » Fri Dec 23, 2016 9:01 pm

Hi guys,

I'm planning to move to Taiwan for 6 months to take a Mandarin Chinese course in one of its universities. My currect Mandarin level is pretty basic. I can maintain a conversation going when chatting, but I'm struggling with pronouncing words and understanding Mandarin when it's being spoken. As for characters, I would say that I know app. 400 traditional characters.

My question is - what woul you recommend me to do when I get to Taiwan. The course is only 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, so I'll have a lot of free time, which I don't want to spend on learning from textbooks only, as textbooks is something I can learn from when I'm in my home country and is not the reason I'm going to Taiwan.

Thanks for your help :)
