Elsa Maria,
Very nice! My wife does planning the same way. I think it is her favorite part. And now with the oldest going into 11th, my wife and our daughter plan the year together. They are having a great time with it!
Re: AP Latin, how are you going to have him tested? Where can he take the test?

Ugh. AP exams and homeschoolers are a problem even in the states. IronMike, you probably know that already but maybe some other people here do not. Unlike the SAT or the ACT, one cannot just sign up to take an AP Exam. It is up to the homeschooler to find a school who will order and proctor the particular AP test that your student needs. Finding a test site can be a difficult and stressful task. I have found an international school that will allow my child to take AP Exams.

Re: Homeschoolers united!
Is everyone's homeschool year off to a good start? We are in the midst of preparing for a move back to the USA, but are determined to be diligent about school anyway
My homeschool student has decided to drop a formal study of Danish after we move. Instead, my student is going to start Russian.

Yep, everything going swimmingly here.
Why Russian? What is your child going to use for resources?

My child will work with a Skype tutor, and she selected the textbook. It is this one:

Re: Homeschoolers united!
Bump!
Homeschooling going ok here in Moscow. The Esperanto plans fell by the wayside to be replaced with more Russian. It's ok. The girl and I will be going to an exhibition later this month for the Day of International Books. An Esperanto teacher will be there and I'm hoping to actually get to use the language IRL for once. I'll take the girl so she can hear it spoken. I'll probably have her do a few lessons in her Esperanto text prior to our going.
How's everyone else's school year going?

Re: Homeschoolers united!
Things are.. Going. Over here. I am feeling pretty good about our year but it hasn't been quite what I planned. In fact, I just spent almost all of November revising one subject after another so we are not using any of the curricula we started with. Oh well. Kids are much happier and I am too.
DS8 has switched to doing less but more challenging math and a book on cryptography. We dropped history and doubled up on science (tripled? He's a STEM kid) We also are having to switch our LA program to tackle some issues that popped up. Learning curve for me.
DD6 switched math programs too, to one I really like but have never taught before. It's teacher intensive but fortunately she's independent in mostly everything else.
And I didn't expect to have to do school with DS4 but he shows up to the table every day expecting to do work. He really wants to learn how to read and his math is coming along nicely so I have to throw him into the planning mix.
Kids are picking up more French from around the house and from daily French cartoons, but direct instruction has stopped for now. There are just too many adjustments finding our stride with all the new courses. Hopefully I can bring it back when things settle down.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Boy does this ever bring back memories. When our first son was about 6, his younger brother (4) would shot out answers to math questions that mom would ask our oldest. As it turned out, boy #2 was always about 2 years ahead in math and is now finishing his first semester in aeronautical engineering in college!

Re: Homeschoolers united!
Hello, fellow homeschoolers. I am checking in after an absence on the forum. I have a lot of moving experience, but our move back to the USA was really extraordinarily stressful and time-consuming. More than anything, the homeschool student and I are hoping for stability in 2017.
We are over-the-moon happy with his Russian tutor, and he is progressing quickly. And I have succumbed to the temptation to join him. I am a handwriting geek, and once I found out that Russians usually write in cursive...well, that was the moment that clinched it, lol.
