I really liked the old HTLAL feature that indicated which pages of a thread have already been read. It was not an exact science but it was very helpful, especially for long threads. I know such a feature is hard to implement but it would be very helpful.
Maybe there are good ways to keep track of which messages you have already read. My technique is to start at the end and work backwards until I recognise what I have already read. Not ideal. People may have better techniques.

If you click on the orange icon next to the post name (after you've clicked on quick links -> new posts) you will be taken to the last read post in that thread.
