Je suis d'accord ! Languages don't exist in a vacuum, but in a culture that many of us would like visit.

Done! I've created a separate Travel & Culture forum with a dedicated sub-forum for more general discussions of travel which aren't country specific.

Thanks!

A question though:

an you please organise your topics by country where possible,

Does it mean there are gonna be subforums like "Italy" or that we should somehow stick to one thread per country (impossible!)? Sorry if the question is too stupid. I'll just start there and hopefully, I won't mess up :-)

That is exactly what I meant. So in the main T&C room you create a Topic called Italy and ask your questions and get answers. This would hopefully keep all questions and answers related to Italy in one topic which would make it easier for future travellers to find. That is the theory anyway!

So, I messed up. But still, I am not sure whether this is gonna work. Of course, it is gonna work for sorting questions like "where should I go to in Italy", "what are the italian railways like" etc. But I am not sure whether questions like mine in recent thread (tips on bookshops, experience with parcours thematiques in Louvre etc) fit into such threads entirely. Hmm. Should I ask the questions rather in my log, since they might appear too irrelevant as a beginning of "France" thread?

Given the number of really amazing recommendations you've already received, I think it is fine.

Not sure if it makes sense to have 1 thread per country, they will get very messy. I'm not going to read 200 pages of an USA thread if I want to know where to go in Las Vegas.
But it would help to have the country in the topic name, so you can easily search for them. Like this "[France] Paris question". Also this way I would not need to assume you want to visit the 12 people living in Paris (Denmark).

I agree; I would want each thread to start with "<country name>" and then a more targeted subtopic.
