There is a nice tagging extension that exists and that I've tested out. It is an easy add - it won't be automatic but it means that users can tag threads as they like - it creates a nice tag cloud automatically.

I'll do a pull to the system in the next weeks once the current development is cycled to production.

What is important is the tagging strategy - the proposed tag cloud allows people to use a variety of tags that might be a little confusing - French or Francais could both be used...

I'd like to see a per-post (or per-topic) tagging extension added, and IMHO it would be most useful if we all used a consistent set of tags. Maybe curated tags, the way the various Stack Exchange communities do.
