If I have a message sitting in my outbox, does that simply mean that it hasn't been read yet by the recipient?

Re: A quick question regarding PMs
I had assumed that, like an email outbox, it meant that the software had not yet delivered the message.

Yes. While it is in the outbox you can still change/delete the message.

This is interesting. Let's say I open the forum and see that I have a new message, but I don't have the time to read it. I come back an hour later and discover that the message is gone, deleted by the sender. Is that possible?

Yes. I'm a mod on another forum with a number of hotheaded people, but they also know I am unlikely to react positively to heated demands. So it's quite a frequent occurrence to notice I have a message from one of them, and go to read it half an hour later but it's been deleted, since they thought better of it.
People do change their mind for all sorts of reasons, it might not have been a nastygram. The most common one is probably somebody asking a question to which they find the answer themselves before I get around to it.

Re: A quick question regarding PMs
I have a question about the PMs. Can we send them to our email address? When they banned me on htlal each time, I lost all the PMs, and I don't want to lose them for example if they ban me here as well. Thanks.

Re: A quick question regarding PMs
As far as I know, there's no way to import or email the messages, you just have to copy-paste manually.
I surely hope you won't get banned again It seems like you're doing your best not to break any rules.
Also, if things do get nasty, this forum allows for temporary bans. But of course it's best not to get to that point anyway, and having the tool available doesn't guarantee that it'll be used.

Oh ok. Thanks for the info.

Thank you yes, of course.

I don't trust the fora. I wasn't nasty or broke any rules on htlal but was banned every time. Now I have learned and I know that it can happen. Therefore I want my PMs in my email.
