This one sounds like slick marketing to me  Maybe because a forum per se is nothing unique, whereas a guide to galaxy is 8-)

Since slick marketing is important, go for that one then :)

"The Language Learner's Forum" sounds very professional to me, which I think is what we want. Let's make a good impression on first time lurkers: we know what we're talking about and we're serious about language learning.

The automatic redirection to the new domain works fine BTW.

"The Language Learner's Forum" has a nuance that the forum is for a specific learner.
"The Language Learners' Forum" has a nuance that the forum is for learners of languages.

I'm happy with either.

Actually I'm just happy that it's reachable :-)

While the URL is still a tad too long for my liking, it is a marked improvement over the old one so I won't complain too much

As for which of the following is better "A language learners’ forum" or "A language learner's forum" or "The language learner's forum" - this is probably a bit too pedantic for my tastes  Personally, I'm of the mind that "If we build it, they will come".

I like the domain name :D

As for a longer forum name, I don't mind it theoretically but I think it shouldn't play off the titles or contents of some books or TV shows or movies, because then inevitably some people who haven't seen or read it will feel left out, and that's not a good way to attract potential new members.

A huge thank you to rdearman for managing this name change so smoothly and so successfully, by the way! We had very little downtime, and no significant technical problems. And we had actual communication before the switchover. :-) That was very well done. My huge thanks to rdearman for making all this possible.

I didn't even notice the changeover until I saw this thread  The name is ok; it serves its purpose.

Thank you to everyone who was behind the change.

Need a better maintenance warning system and I have discovered I can disable the board during maintenance to help avoid lost posts. I am hopeful that we will have more maintenance outages because it neans we are improving and expanding!

Thanks everyone for you patience and apologies for any lost work if you didn't see my warnings in time.

Hm, I've not read/watched it but I don't feel left out anyway :) Maybe because it's on my list and I've always liked the name.
