Fastelavn er mit navn,
boller vil jeg have.
Hvis jeg ingen boller får,
så laver jeg ballade.
Boller up, boller ned
boller i min mave.
Hvis jeg ingen boller får,
så laver jeg ballade.

Shrovetide is my name,
buns I want.
If I get no buns,
I will make trouble.
Buns up, buns down
buns in my tummy.
If I get no buns,
I will make trouble.

Vender kragerne?
Flyver svalerne baglæns?
Hvor kragerne vender.
Pjatter *du?
Overfarten tager ikke kun halvanden time.
Tager overfarten halvanden time?
Jeg tager hjemmefra ved ottetiden.
*Jeg kan nå at være der til frokost.

I have finished with Assimil Italian '86, Assimil French '83 and Assimil Portuguese Continental 2005. Now I'm going to focus on German, Danish and Norwegian. I still have to complete Danish '92, German '50 and Norwegian '97.

I'm also doing Glossika in French, Portuguese, Italian, German and Swedish and I've began listening Assimil German '88.

I did until the 5th lesson of Paul Noble's German, but I don't think that I'm going to continue with it, although the course is very good.

I've recently resumed the reading of Nyckeln, listening to the audiobook at the same time.

What has worked best so far for me?
-Complete an Assimil course, reading the lessons, looking up for words in the dictionary and repeating the listening and reading.
-Begin to watch a TV-serie in the target language once the Assimil course is finished.
-Read along the audiobook, having previously read that same book in Spanish.
-Glossika, to have a quick reminder of useful phrases and questions, although I haven't advanced much with any of the courses yet, so it's soon to tell.
-Write the first letters of the lesson and then repeat it from memory, http://imgur.com/meh28gG, from the original post at http://bit.ly/1POjZvh
For Danish I've been listening to Assimil tracks and writing by hand in the paper book the phonetic sound of the words that I'm pronouncing incorrectly. I've just remembered that you can do the same with Audacity and then export the labels. Just select the part that you want to label and press CTRL + B.
Audacity's Manual, about labelling tracks: http://bit.ly/1Q18cYb
-Form modified Assimil sentences (affirmations, negations and questions) with the original Assimil text and then to publish it in lang-8.
-Dual subtitles, for example, in English and Swedish.

What hasn't worked for me?
-Listen to the radio every day, except for the languages that are close to mine, such as French, Portuguese and Italian.
-Listen to audiobooks as a "background music", without having previously read that same book in Spanish.
-Anki: just too much time working on the cards.
-Type Assimil lessons.
-Write isolated phrases in lang-8 when I still lack vocabulary.
-Try to talk when I still lack vocabulary.
-See a TV-series with subtitles different from the audio. For example, to see Star Trek Voyager with Swedish subtitles. The ammount of text is insufficient.
-Record my own corrections, as if I were Michel Thomas: it takes too much time and it's cumbersome to repeated listening. With the previously shadowed and edited Glossika/Assimil tracks, on the contrary, the work is quite pleasant.
-Look words in the dictionary and write them in Rivstart's book.

I made two mini-guides, one for Russian and the other one for German. I made them for the people of my country, but perhaps you can find them useful aswell:

-Russian: http://bit.ly/1UU4CCx
-German: http://bit.ly/1nPP2x8

In Argentina the Assimil courses -as far as I now- aren't well known. Most of the people that I've met study through teachers only and don't know about the great material that is around.

-To write isolated phrases in lang-8 when I still lack vocabulary.

I had this same feeling. Writing random stuff just to be posting it on Lang-8 didn't seem to be very helpful. I use it for the spontaneous, Spanish written conversations that come up from time to time. My wife likes to enter English sentences into Google Translate and then we have a text message conversation in Spanish when I'm at work. It's great fun! I write what I can, and then post it on Lang-8 and hope I didn't embarrass myself.

-To try to talk when I still lack vocabulary.

I don't let a lack of vocabulary stop me from trying to talk. I feel like it's helpful to try to organize my thoughts in Spanish. It's getting easier to speak Spanish without a lot of thought. I can't say everything I want to, but I'm surprised that I can convey as many thoughts as I can when I try. Of course, I have never spoken with someone who actually knows Spanish.

My "caveman" Spanish appears to be pretty good, but not very eloquent.

I've began listening directly from the audio (without having read the lesson) and writing with CTRL+B in Audacity the phrases that I don't understand well enough. First I write them as they sound to me. Then I check them with the book.
