Hi! I've been inactive for quite a while. What's new? I went and lived in Oslo, Norway, for four months, from August to November 2016. After that date I returned to Argentina (my native country), where I'm currently living. In Oslo I got the opportunity to improve my spoken Norwegian and to speak a little in other languages: French, Italian, Portuguese, as I worked as a voluntary in Caritas Norge, assisting immigrants.

What has happened with my languages? Recently I decided that I'm not going to go farther than 10, as I'm having troubles maintaining all and I need time to improve the ones I already "know" (more or less). The list is Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, German and Russian. As I improved my Norwegian, my Swedish started to back up. In Oslo they used to tell me that I spoke Norwegian with Swedish accent. A few Danish even mistook me for a native Norwegian. On the other side, when I tried to spoke Danish, they said that it was "horrible". Things of life. :D
What's true is that when I decided that I was going to study Norwegian, I stopped studing Danish.

Nowadays I'm making my own "Pimsleur/Glossika" files with Assimil russe sans peine 1971 and German Without Toil, 1957. That means that I record myself first in Spanish, then I stop and guess what's coming, then I listen back again.

Before going to Oslo, I completed all the Assimil books that I was working with, except for German Without Toil, where I'm still missing 5 or 6 lessons:
Le danois sans peine, 1992, Jean-François Battail y Karl Ejby Poulsen
Le norvégien sans peine, 1997, François Liégaux Heide and Tom Holta Hedie
El alemán sin esfuerzo, 1957, Anton Chérel (missing the last lessons).

As I was focusing in learning Norwegian, I also completed:
Norsk for utlendinger 2, Åse-Berit y Rolf Strandskogen, 2002
Her på berget, Elisabeth Ellingsen, Kristi Mac Donald, 2008
På vei, Elisabeth Ellingsen, Kristi Mac Donald, 2012
Stein på Stein, Elisabeth Ellingsen, Kristi Mac Donald, 2005
I used those books mostly to learn vocabulary, that I then searched in https://www.ordnett.no/. In Norway I ended up buying Ordett's Android App, as I was (and still is) very useful.

Below is a list of the Norwegian movies and series that I saw.
I also watched Urix regularly, which is an international relations show: https://tv.nrk.no/serie/urix
I began watching Mammon, but I only saw the first season. I didn't convince me, although I might resume watching it some day.

Kongens nei, Erik Poppe, 2016.
Himmelblå, 2008
Hamsun, Jan Troell, 1996
Kampen for tilværelsen
Den brysomme mannen
Frikjent
Hellfjord
Kon-Tiki, 2012
Max Manus, 2008
Trolljegeren, 2010
Scientologi - troens fengsel?, 2015
Kraftidioten
Dag, noruega, seasons 1-4

Kampen om tungtvatten

I had my Italian period:

Il boom, Vittorio de Sica, 1963.
I soliti ignoti, Mario Monicelli, 1958.
Il sorpasso, Dino Risi, 1962.
Il moralista, Giorgio Bianchi, 1959.
Una vita difficile, Dino Risi, 1961.
Detenuto in attesa di giudizio, Nanni Loy, 1971.
Bello onesto emigrato Australia sposerebbe compaesana illibata, Luigi Zampa, 1971.
Il diavolo, Gian Luigi Polidoro, 1963.

Romanzo di una strage, Marco Tullio Giordana, 2012.
I cento passi, Marco Tullio Giordana, 2000.
La scorta, Ricky Tognazzi, 1993.
La meglio gioventù, Marco Tullio Giordana, 2003.
El Alamein - La linea del fuoco, Enzo Monteleone, 2002.

My Danish holidays:
Rejsen til Saturn
Forbrydelsen

My Swedish... something:
Vadelmavenepakolainen AKA Raspberry Boat Refugee [2014] by Leif Lindblom
Ronja Rövardotter, Tage Danielsson, 1984.
En man som heter Ove, Hannes Holm, 2015.

And other movies:
Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, Dany Boon, 2008, French.
Intouchables, Olivier Nakache, Eric Toledano, 2011, French.
Talvisota, Pekka Parikka, 1989, Finnish.
Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer, 2015, German.

I was using a very old (and bad) mobile phone. In Oslo I bought another one that fits my high standards: it works, contrary to the former one, that it didn't.
These are the radios and newspapers that I listen and read with my mobile:

Italian: http://www.radiorai.rai.it/dl/portaleRa ... o.html?v=3
German: http://www.hr-inforadio.de/index.html
French: http://www.rfi.fr/contenu/ecouter-rfi-direct-monde
Brazilian Portuguese: http://br.rfi.fr/
Russian: http://ru.rfi.fr/ (I don't listen to this one yet, I'm just keeping it at hand for the future.)
Continental Portuguese: http://pt.rfi.fr/
Swedish: http://sverigesradio.se/
Norwegian: https://radio.nrk.no/
Danish: http://www.dr.dk/radio/

Newspapers:

http://www.repubblica.it/
https://jyllands-posten.dk/
http://politiken.dk/
http://www.faz.net (German)
http://www.sueddeutsche.de/

A few days ago I began sharing posts in Facebook, commenting something of interest -for me- in English, Spanish and other language. If the news comes from a French newspaper, then the commentary is in... surprise, surprise... French.

I also bought the premium version of http://context.reverso.net, as context dictionary that I've found extremely useful, that covers most of my languages.

While in Oslo and then back I tried a few languages: Polish, Romanian, Latvian, Finnish, Dutch. When I say "I tried" it means that I only did one or two lessons in Pimsleur/Assimil.

I bought or received the following reading material in Norway:

Laudato si', Pave Frans.
Ny i Norge. Praktiske opplysninger fra offentlige etater.
Sofies verden av Jostein Garder (I read one half).
Nasjonalmuseet Høydepunkter. Kunst fra antikken til 1945
Debatten.
Norsk grammatikk. Norsk som andrespråk. Teoribok. Kirsti Mac Donald.
And least but not last... an Ikea catalog.

I think that's all for now. Thank you for reading. :)

Recently I began sharing posts in Facebook in several languages, as I mentioned before. I'm going to post here only the target languages, with my own recordings:

I dag vil jeg dele en artikkel som ble skrevet av Anna, med hvem hadde jeg æren av å arbeide med i 2016 i Caritas Norge. Den beskriver perfekt hvad jeg sa og levde på egen hånd når jeg var i Oslo. Den opprinnelige artikkelen er i norsk.

I forgot to write that I'm also doing Glossika German:
1) Listen and repeat after the "A" files (English-German);
2) Read outloud the phrases of that day.
3) A transcription in an Excel file with two columns: Spanish and German.
5) Print that sheet of paper and take it with you. Then cover with a white paper the "German" part and guess what's the translation for the Spanish phrases.
6) Mark with a pen the mistakes.
7) Rewrite the sentences with errors and print again, only those.

If I want to make a review, I just take the "C" file (German only) and put it in replay for a few minutes. I also do this "replay" exercise with my own Russian and German (Assimil) files. I've noticed that it works best when you're using material that you have previously worked with, instead of listening repeatedly to audio files that you just heard pasively.

I want to share something that I found yesterday: http://fluentcards.com
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Anki/comments/ ... e_lookups/

With Kindle Paperwhite you can create "inner" flashcards from the words that you have looked up. These words are stored inside a file called "vocab.db". "Fluentcards" allows you to export that vocab file and create an Anki deck with definitions, pictures, cloze...

Our own emk created a while ago a site in the same line: http://www.srscollector.com/

Ok, ok... but do you have something really new? Yes! http://sublearning.com To learn from subtitles from different languages online.

“A chi” è una canzone di Fausto Leali, parte del film “La meglio gioventù”, che racconta la storia di due fratelli. L’historia comincia negli anni sessanta e arriva fino ai giorni nostri. Questo film ha un significato speciale per me, perqué è stato ripreso in Norvegia così come nelle isole Eolie, da dove viene mia famiglia materna. Anche Oblivion e Remebrance di Astor Piazolla sono parte del film. Non hai di scuse per non vederlo!

Update: 7th June 2017.

I've been out of internet forums in general, although I continue my language study as before. Have you seen Professor Argüelles last talk on the Polyglot Conference? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XhIWpN4tDA He says that at the beginning he used to spent a lot of time planning and not that much time "doing his job" (actually studing the language). I've limited my internet use to a few activities, which mostly consists in using online dictionaries.
What am I currently doing? Since May this year I decided to give Anki a serious try, so I created several German decks: Assimil - Deutsch ohne Mühe, by Anton Chérel (1950), Assimil El nuevo alemán sin esfuerzo, by Hilde Schneider (1988), Glossika German Fluency and "Das Herz von Dresden", which is a graded reader by Cordula Schurig, B1 level.

I'm dividing my routine in two days: in the first, I prepare the material that I'll be repeating in Anki for the next days.
1) I type the text: the Assimil lesson or the graded reader chapter. If there are any words that I don't know, I look them up with http://context.reverso.net
2) I use Audacity to label (CTRL+B) the different pieces of audio and then I perform a multiple export, to save time.
3) I create simple cards in Anki.
Side A: Text in Spanish (my mother tongue). Example: Los niños están en la escuela.
Side b: Die Kinder sind in Der Schule + audio extracted from Assimil/Glossika/Dresden
4) I repeat the cards outloud while I walk inside my house, using AnkiDroid. If there's a word that I frequently miss, I write with my cellphone a "*". Example: if I always say "Das Kinder sinde in Der Schule", I'll mark "Los" in the Spanish card. I do the same with a word that's not the one that I'm accostumed to. For example, kurz and schnell. If I'm always using "schnell" for "fast" but the answer for a certain card is "kurz", I mark in the Spanish card the word "rápido".

In the last week I've stopped with German and focused on Norwegian and Danish. For Norwegian I'm working with Sofies verden. I have this book in digital editions in both Spanish and Norwegian. The procedure is the same as with German: I type the page, check for unknown words and then make Anki cards. With Danish I'm working with Le danois sans peine, 1992, Jean-François Battail y Karl Ejby Poulsen, but I'm going backwards with the lessons: first I work with lesson 64, then 63, 62 and so on.

I try to make my Anki cards as simple as possible and to work only with familiar material. I'm not saying that this is "the" best method, although I can do say that it's the best method for me, as I have trouble remembering words taken from other sources, let's say a newspaper that comes without audio, as most (every?) newspapers.

In German I've recently seen the following series:

Das Adlon. Eine Familiensaga, 2013.
Unsere Mütter, Unsere Vätter, 2013.
Das Boot, Wolfgang Petersen.
Deutschland 83, season 1.

I've been reading a few books in English in my Kindle Paperwhite as well. For those I click on the word to see the definition at the moment, but I don't use the Vocabulary Builder nor I create Anki cards with those. I tried it, but I'd rather concentrate in German or Norwegian/Danish.

I keep doing some radio listening, but nowadays I try not to burn out with language study.

June 12th

I'm using the mobile paid version of https://www.ordnett.no/ and the online paid version of http://ordbog.gyldendal.dk, for Norwegian and Danish, respectively. It's a cheap annual subscription. I also bought the premium version of http://context.reverso.net/, as I'm using it a lot.

Other German series/movies/miniseries that I have on my radar are:

Berlin Alexanderplatz
Das Adlon - Die Dokumentation
Der Gleiche Himmel (I saw this one recently. It's excellent!)
Der Tatortreiniger
Die Flucht (2007)
Die Deutschen
Dreileben
Im Angesicht des Verbrechens
Tannbach
Weissensee
You Are Wanted
