Beim österreichischen Bundesheer sorgt derzeit ein „Genderleitfaden“ für Aufregung und Verwirrung. Soldaten und Soldatinnen sollen nämlich dazu angehalten werden, beim Schreiben und Sprechen die Frauen „sichtbar“ zu machen. So sollen etwa Wörter wie Mannschaft, man oder niemand nach Möglichkeit nicht verwendet oder zumindest vermieden werden.

such stupidity -.- good that we don't have more serious problems

btw. in dialect:
Mann = mau
man = ma
niemand = neamd

If you absolutely must avoid to pronounce /man/ in any word, just use dialect and be done with it :)

I love that! They would be better advised to work on removing structural discrimination against women if that's an issue in Austria (I don't know), but the idea to prohibit people from using "niemand" because it sounds a bit like no-man is just hilarious. And stupid.

I'm back in Austria now. I just checked the statistics for the next city, and it turns out we have 212 Slovenes here. But how to find them? :D
In comparison: 5439 people from the Serbo-Croatian speaking areas. They are also much easier to spot, I would only need to go a few meters in order to find someone to talk to in SC, even here outside the city borders.

I'm so jealous - I can't find any where I live at all! :cry:

Still busy with Colloquial, 3 units to go. I have to prepare for an English certification (not really started yet, but I reintroduced daily input) and try to get a job, so my Slovene learning is in routine mode, no time for experiments. But I do something every day.

I finished my first pass through Colloquial Slovene. I haven't done all the exercises, I haven't learned all the vocabulary and I haven't listened as much to the accompanying audio as I should have. I shall return to these things later after another interlude with a monolingual textbook.

After a week's break (reading in English mostly), I'm back at it. I started "Gremo naprej", a monolingual textbook that should lead to the A2 level.
