Hello Tristano, definitely a good choice! I'm sure you won't miss Spanish and French that much, they'll be waiting for you at the corner.
Russian is a commitment of several years, if you feel Hebrew deserves your attention more now, then go for it.

Your strategy looks similar to what I would call language reaping. You will do Hebrew as your first Afro-asiatic language, and now that you put it I think it's the best decision. I was still deciding on where to start from, I was tempted by Aramaic/Syriac, but given the multitude of dialects (it seems like each textbook covers a different dialect in a different point in time, thought the most well-documented is perhaps Classical Syriac), Modern Hebrew might indeed be the wisest startpoint.

Good luck, Tristano. I didn't want to plant the seed of doubt here. If you're getting a lot of satisfaction from what you're doing keep at it and see where it takes you. If you're in love and pursuing your dreams you won't heed anyone's words anyway.

Only you can decide on the course of action. Spanish, French and Portuguese will always be there, true. However, I believe it is also possible to lull oneself into a false money- in-the-bank feeling with these "easy" languages. I do mantain that Napoleonic plans for linguistic world domination should start in France and be tested in Spain and Germany before one embarks on a Russian or Egyptian adventure

I'm a daddy

My lovely daughter Giulia had a difficult beginning though and she had to be operated. This plus some doubts about her health (that look to be wrong even though we are waiting the results of important medical researchers) and the shock of my girlfriend made the event the most stressful of my life instead of the happiest (but I'm a proud daddy as you may notice!).

So... I don't think I'm going to study Hebrew did a little while I have more important business right now

My daughter is finally coming home from the hospital tomorrow.
In this crazy period of big worries (which isn't finished yet) I obviously cut all my language learning activities, with a little exception: I started reading a book in Spanish (Eva en el labirinto). The main character is a lesbian young woman and the story so far has been not very interesting, but the language is very simple and thus better to improve my level gradually.

My Dutch in this month has greatly improved especially due to the many meetings with the medical staff. I feel that in about one year Dutch will be my strongest foreign language.

I'm not sure how far I will go with Hebrew this year. I have to resume Pimsleur ouch. Maybe I can redo every *5 and *0 lessons until I reach the point I stopped. But I don't have the power to do it now.

According to my girlfriend, my Dutch is already better than my English (that has to be very bad at this point XD)
