When I read el paisaje and translation, my brain went Landschaft, landscape .............. wait ............. le paysage.
Now, when I tried to type el paisaje I typed el pay ... el pai ... el paisage ... el paisage ... el paisaje.

I was afraid that would happen to me too, but I've been surprised by how little interference I've had been Spanish & French. My hypothesis is that it's due to my very very low productive skills in French, and I suspect the interference will get worse as I get better at speaking & writing French.

I had to laugh when I saw "Spanksh".

I went to my local thrift store, which often has a surprisingly good collection of foreign language books, and stumbled across Asterix 1–2, 4–10 in German! I got all of them for just $7!

I also found this amusing "French" book, Let's Parler Franglais:

I can understand this Franglais effortlessly, and it made me laugh, so of course I bought it too. :)

An excellent haul! I myself have the third book in that series, 'Parlez-Vous Franglais?' The humour is often more than a bit suspect, but the Franglais is priceless.

Oh, I have very low expectations for this book. "Chuckling" is the bar. Given that I only spent 99 cents on it, and it's so short, I think that's reasonable. :)

Oh, that was a warning. Expect, if not to be personally offended, to be offended on the part of others.

Ah, gotcha. One review on GoodReads said much the same thing. Given the age of the book, it doesn't really surprise me. I can handle problematic content with raised eyebrows. But thank you for the warning!

Last Wednesday, my husband and I attended our first ASL beginners class. (This is the first time he's gone with me to a language class! You can't imagine how excited I am... well, actually, you probably can. ;))

I am also learning ASLwrite, one of the several ways of writing sign language, so I used that to take notes on the signs we covered. The always-friendly Adrean Clark corrected my written errors, and also showed me some subtle misunderstandings I'd had for a couple signs:

Here is the tiny half-an-index-card cheatsheet I made myself for ASLwrite:

Before class, my husband had said he wasn't at all interested in my silly writing system. But after class, when we were reviewing the signs, he asked to take a quick look... and allowed that it might actually be a useful thing for studying. :D
