Italian

memrise: 2682/11987

film:
3 episodes of Inspector Manara: The Hidden Truth, A Strange Hunging Accident & The Faceless Woman
2 epsisodes of Young Montalbano: The Honest Thief & An Apricot
3 episodes of Fog & Crimes: The River Fog & Roomes for Rent

I finished up season two of Inspector Manra & Young Montalbano and started a new series Fog & Crimes which seems to be OK.

italki: one hour session with pro teacher

books:
I'm flitting from book to book and started two new ones this week. This weeks goal is to stick with one of them (probably Per dieci minuti).

Thai 6WC Day 14

29 minutes memrise
46 minutes of YouTube Thai cooking show: อร่อยสร้างภาพ 12, 13, 14
60 minutes of writing sentences

I wrote sentences from the Thai for Beginners book 2-3 times changing either a verb or a noun for the repetitiveness.

Summary for Week 2 of 6WC

231 minutes of memrise: 1047/3731
98 minutes of podcasts
60 minutes of mixed activity (reading/translating)
120 minutes tutor (focusing on short sentences and pronunciation)
234 minutes of film (cooking show)
60 minutes of writing
803 minutes total

So a decrease in memrise and a slight increase in reading/writing. A big fail on less of the อร่อยสร้างภาพ cooking show. I will try to do 15 minutes of writing each day this week as an hour is a bit tiring.

I had to give up on Mnemosyne because it kept freezing up. I found another app called Flashcard Hero that uses text to speech for the sound. I compared the app pronunciation of about a dozen words with pronunciations from forvo.com, thai-language.com and the podcasts I use and they all seemed correct to my ears so I plan to continue to use it adding words slowly as I don't want to invest too much time until I can confirm that it won't mispronounce on more complicated words.

Thai 6WC Day 15

26 minutes memrise
17 minutes of writing
18 minutes of YouTube Thai cooking show: อร่อยสร้างภาพ 15
75 minutes listening/repeating

136 minutes total

When I first started using the Thai for Beginner book I listened to one of the CDs that came with it to and from work for weeks until I realized I was no longer paying attention to it at which time I stopped. Today I listened to and from work and repeated the words back when it was doing vocabulary words and tried to interpret when it was doing the conversations. I was pleased that I understood quite a bit more than I thought I did so I'll continue do this once a week to keep it fresh.

Yes, after the first couple of entries I got into the rhythm of her writing and would like to read one of her fiction books now.

I finished Per dieci minuti by Chiara Gamberale. It's autobiographical in diary format. The writing flows and the vocabulary is not difficult. I didn't have to look up many words. In summary, Chiara had a bad year personally and professionally so she saw a therapist who gave her an assignment of trying something new every day for just 10 minutes.

Italian

memrise: 2758/11981

film:
4 episodes of Fog & Crimes: Trying to Forget, The Mystery Film Club, The Winter Sea & Lost Children

Fog & Crimes (Nebbie e delitti) is a little melodramatic at times but the dialog in this series is some of the clearest I've heard. There is no dialect that I've noticed which makes it a lot easier to watch and understand than some shows.

italki: one hour session with pro teacher

books:
I completed Per dici minuti yesterday and started a new book called Storie di Stinchi e... contorni: Racconti eco-gastro-ironici by Federico Pagliai. The writing feels a lot more formal and less flowing so far. I am hoping I can stick with it.

Thai 6WC Day 20 (yesterday)

34 minutes memrise is all I could manage yesterday due to other commitments

Thai 6WC Day 21

46 minutes memrise
138 minutes LearnThaiPodcast & ThaiPod101
37 minutes of YouTube Thai cooking show: อร่อยสร้างภาพ 20, 21

Today I tried to make up for yesterdays lack of Thai. I did pretty well

Summary for Week 3 of 6WC

221 minutes of memrise: 1047/3731
239 minutes of podcasts
110 minutes of mixed activity (reading/translating, Cat Cartoons)
120 minutes tutor (focusing on short sentences and pronunciation)
129 minutes of film (cooking show)
45 minutes of writing
864 minutes total

Thai
231 minutes of memrise: 1122/3776

In general I like the balance of Thai activities that I did this week. For this week my primarly goal is to write for about 15 minutes every day.
