I also watched this film recently, although it has to be said, with subtitles. Not the greatest film ever but quite entertaining. I stumbled across the book in Russian the other day, I don't know if it would be a good reading option or not?

You can turn off the English subtitles, and turn on the French closed captions. That's what I did. My DVD is for region 1. Yours may be different.

Salut, mes amis.

Mes regrets à Thom avec ma discussion sur les yeux dans sa blague. Peut-être ma discussion était un petit peu rude ? Oui? Je regrette, Thom.

Pour apprendre plus sur moi et les yeux, peut-être voyez ma blague à

You have nothing to apologize for. By the way, the word blague means joke. I could not figure out what you were saying at first, because I thought you meant you were apologizing for your eyes in my joke.

There is no joke. Carmody wrote « Mes regrets à Thom avec ma discussion sur les yeux dans sa blague. Peut-être ma discussion était un petit peu rude ? Oui? Je regrette, Thom. »

It translates as, "My regrets at Thom with my discussion about the eyes in his joke. Perhaps my discussion was a little rough? Yes? I'm sorry, Thom."

I think he meant that he regretted writing about his eye operation in my blog. But, the word blague translates as joke in Larousse.

Anyway, there is no need to apologize to me. :D

P.S. My paperback Concise Larousse Dictionary translates the English word blog as blog in French.

Thank you for the translation.

Once again you are right and I am wrong.

I am grateful for your forbearance.

Bonjour mes amies,

J'ai terminé le chapitre un du français en action. Ce week-end, je vais faire une pause et regarder des films français. J'ai déjà regardé La Vie En Rose et Le Petit Nicolas. Ces deux je vais regarder sans sous-titres en anglais. J'ai aussi Un Village Français. C'est celui que je vais regarder ce week-end.

Merci et bonne journée.

This sounds to me like you're planning to watch them in English without subtitles. I believe you'd drop the "en" to say "without English subtitles".

How much of Un village francais do you have? I watched a lot and then burnt out somewhere during the season when the Jews were being arrested. Each episode felt like it had a depressing inevitability to it. However, I do plan to pick it up again sometime.

I only have the first season of Un Village Français. What I usually do is watch an episode with the English subtitles on, and then again without them. Some videos that I get from France have French closed captions. I'll watch with them on before I try without any subtitles. So far I enjoy the episodes. I'm a history freak with an interest in the European theatre.

There are two clauses:

1. Ces deux
You can't say that without anything after like "these two" in English. It is necessary to mention the object. You can replace the object "films" by "là" linked with a hyphen.

2. je vais regarder sans sous-titres en anglais.
What will you watch? You have to mentioned "les films" or replace the object by a pronoun.

Correction:
Ces deux-là je vais les regarder sans (les) sous-titres (en) anglais.

I hope that helps.
