You need to look or just forget about it. Where they mentioned the date, the oldest discs were from 1950s. On another site I saw a suspiciously old-looking box. I listened through the course some 7-8 years ago. It was fun but I prefer real audiobooks like Ceasar's Gallic Wars - admittedly not read by Ceasar himself but still old enough for my taste.

Yes, this is indeed how I located and purchased a complete physical copy of the course "L'allemand facile" (the revised edition of "Je parle l'allemand") that you recently recommended during one of the innumerable debates on the utility of the FSI German Basic course. It is quite an impressive package and I will be posting a more complete review at a later date.

Returning to the present digression, I have sent Emails directly to Assimil, as well as to the current sellers of the vinyl discs that Elexi kindly identified, requesting additional information, et cetera. While I suspect that not much will come of these searches, I will continue to chase down every lead.

Many thanks to the two of you for your suggestions.

I think you should also go for it. And we still use the genitive just not as much as before but it's still good to know it especially when having to fill documents out (and germans love paperwork).

Upon receipt of the course books from 1938 and 1943 that I ordered, I will compare their texts with that of the 1957 edition and, if there are differences in the dialogues, I will submit a request to Assimil concerning the audio recordings....

Were there any differences between the editions from 1957 and 1938/1943?

Hello, Aravinda. There are no significant differences in the contents (the dialogues and the notes) amongst the truly vintage editions of "German Without Toil / L'allemand sans peine" in my collection; that is, for the years 1938, 1947, and 1957. Interestingly, all three of these editions, including that of 1938, include a list of record/track numbers versus lesson numbers. So then, the audio recordings from the 1950's can be used with the previous editions at least as far back as 1938.
