I have just come across this article on computer translation of languages. I thought it was great - by far the best article I've seen for the layman on the subject. It's from The Economist and it looks at the history of machine/computer translation, examines the challenges and looks at different approaches. I thought many forum members would be interested. Heads up: it's over thirty pages long!
