When you get really excited (perhaps overly excited) about doing part of your linguistics final - I love critical discourse analysis.
When you manage to do a really good job at being an engaged undergraduate at one of the biggest linguistics conferences in the Americas. How I wasn't constantly overwhelmed I don't know.

When you seriously consider writing to language institutions in a country because you want to know what part of the country an accent is from.

(Blhaauehhgrrrrg I hate not knowing.)

I just came across this bizarre translation from Arabic to English on Facebook. I couldn't understand why someone who is offering condolences would want someone's money to be blessed.
