Re: Korean - from scratch to B2 in one year

Congrats on getting that B2 in Korean. :) Did you ever happen to make a log recording your Japanese learning? I'm not finding it here nor on the HTLAL site.

Re: Xenops Mostly Tackles French (and some other languages)

Thank you for the visit and the correction. :) I'm not sure how to make the center dot on American keyboards (or even foreign ones?) I went to Wikipedia English version to search "Margaret Thatcher", then went to the Japanese version of that and got "マーガレット・ サッチャー". To find out ...

Re: Is RhinoSpike Dead?

I don't mind making recordings for other people, and that's what I started doing. Neither do I. That's what I used to do. It's when I have to do recordings for people and pay money in order to download recordings I've requested, that I feel it becomes unfair. Imagine if on Lang-8 you corrected for ...

Re: Xenops Mostly Tackles French (and some other languages)

マーガレット・ サッチャー Margaret Thatcher Note the solid and centre-aligned 中黒 dot. If you use the JLPT katakana word list to practise katakana, you can learn katakana, transliteration and JLPT vocab at the same time. Thank you for the visit and the correction. :) I'm not sure how to make the center dot on A...

Re: Is RhinoSpike Dead?

The site was never super active, but I used to use it quite a lot. Then they introduced charging for downloading recordings, which turned me off completely. In actual fact I'm not against paying, it's just that if you pay for the recording none of that money goes to the person who spent the effort ...

It looks like it had an active history, but it's past its time?

Re: The Big Three East Asian Languages

Perhaps, rather, these are the "Big Oriental Three"?

Lately I've faced reality, and if I can be C1 or C2 in 2-3 languages other than English, I would be doing really well.

Is RhinoSpike Dead?

I started taking requests for English recordings on the site, and there's not many requests at all. rhinospike.com In case you didn't know, RhinoSpike is a site where you can request native speakers to correct and record their reading of your text. Are there more active alternatives to th...

Re: Learning by listening to songs

I was thinking of learning some French songs. Here is my current plan of attack:

1. find the song, find the lyrics
2. take a dictionary and translate words I don't know.
3. Memorize lyrics
4. try to sing along with the original song.
