Fantastic job, guys! Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort, and getting things sorted so quickly. :)

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the answer about the email addresses.

Re: THE FORUM HAS BEEN HACKED - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Thanks for the warning!

Stupid question: I'm assuming they have usernames (as part of the login data), but did they also get email addresses?

Re: Proven ways to get a native-like accent

Hmm, it was a long time ago... Here are a few sound samples (.au format). But those aren't the ones I was thinking of. The one I had in mind was a woman from Slovenia who had a very good accent in the short sample. Yes, here it is: http://olle-kjellin.com/SpeechDoctor/HB_ident.au (after some 18 mon...

Are the samples on the Swedish section of his website? I can't find any on the English one...

Re: Proven ways to get a native-like accent

A very good example of this is the fiasco that George Osbourne found himself in when he tried to sound less RP in an effort to build rapport with the workers at a Morrison's store to whom he was giving a speech. Of course, he was soundly mocked for his efforts. I have no doubts at all that if he ha...

Re: Lilly's log - French, Russian and reluctant Spanish

In the meantime, let me leave you with the intro and outro of a fun series I used to love as a kid called " Monkey Magic ", along with some reassuring words from its wise and benevolent narrator: " When what is indestructible meets what is irresistible, the female all too often wins....

Re: Listening on the Job During the Workday

Someone's done a study on which genres of music are the best to listen to whilst working, taking into account what type of work you're doing: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/06/02/this-is-the-kind-of-music-you-should-listen-to-at-work/ . I guess this might also apply to music in another lan...

Re: Listening on the Job During the Workday

I am not berating anyone here for what they do or don't do while driving, and I do not claim to be a perfect driver myself. Who doesn't consider themselves a good driver, and that they aren't distracted by the radio or whatever else? That is completely subjective - no one is re-taking their driving ...

Re: Listening on the Job During the Workday

If my job was driving (also meaningful work), I could do it. It's surprising that something as complicated as driving requires so little concentration. It seems to be largely handled by automatic skills. Changing gears, for example, will be a fairly automatic skill, but I think people underestimate...
