Re: Reading first?

I am not a learner of multiple languages like OP but my struggles stem from listening too little in the beginning of my learning.

Next language will be intensive and extensive listening 3 to 1 vs reading in the early stages. Just my opinion.

Re: BOLIO's Spanish log

Listen and read....Listen and Read...nothing too exciting but I am still doing quite a bit of both. I have watch several movies both originals and dubbed. I have started reading both El Conde de Montecristo and El Símbolo Perdido. I am reading both at the same time. I often do this when reading in E...

Re: Listening on the Job During the Workday

I listen to audiobooks during work. However, they are all books I have read / listened to before...never a new book. Also, I sometimes turn on to rtve.es and play old series I have seen before. I minimize the screen and just listen to the audio.

Re: ¿Qué estás leyendo/acabas de leer en español?

Acabo de terminar dos libros...Ángeles y Demonios por Dan Brown y Zona Peligrosa por Lee Child. Me gustaron ambos libros. Pero, ahora, voy a leer mi libro favorito en todo el mundo....El Conde de Montecristo. "Unabridged " por supuesto!! Hay muchas palabras desconocidas, pero creo que lo d...

Thank you both for the responses. @blaurebell, I am watching your thread concerning this course. I am interested to see how you are working the course since you are very advanced compared to where my starting point will be. @speakeasy what a post. Thank you for your efforts and resources. I will use...

Re: PM's French Courses Mission

Do the courses make you happy? If so, continue the self-challenge of courses you have. If not...don't. I appreciate your log and contributions to the board. If you started a "Going Native" thread discussing your adventures with native materials then I would read it too. As far as the other...

Re: BOLIO's Spanish log

I don't remember when my mother took away my pacifier but I must have felt like I do right now. I have made the decision to stop all subtitles and I feel a bit naked or exposed right now. In addition, I have stopped all listening while reading the text. I still read but I read for a couple of hours ...

Modern Russian I and 2 by Clayton Dawson

After completing FSI Fast and another true beginner course, I would like to tackle Modern Russian. My question deals with the amount of time to complete 1 and 2. If I am spending an hour to 90 minutes every day, any idea how long? My only experience that may equate to this course is FSI BASIC SPANIS...

Re: tx2005 Beginning Spanish Log

Welcome. It is a great place here. Your goals are very much in line with mine when I started learning. Your plan is very similar to the plan I used. I will share that if I could do it all over, I would listen to native material from the beginning. Understanding is not important at the beginning. Par...

Note to self. I will truly "know" Spanish when I can understand this song without the subtitles.
