Re: Do you have any particular method to improve your learning capacity?

Personally I have the same confidence in subliminal as I have in a variety of other expensive, sold in the back of magazines. I don't doubt that perception influences a variety of biological and mind processes but most of these programs are just the new snake oil. As to supplements, some are useful,...

Re: Adventures in Hebrew (and a bit of Japanese)

You said that you're approaching Hebrew in an audio intensive way (or something). But you're learning grammar and it looks like you tackled the alphabet. I learned it with anki but if I try to read a word instead of a single flashcard a black hole is created and kills a puppy. It's like instead of ...

Re: Languages of Morocco..?

You might find these useful http://bewilderedinmorocco.com/books-to-learn-moroccan-dialect-of-arabic/ I looked into classes in-country at one point and found few that I felt would meet with a short immersion trip so I gave up. But today, if I wanted to focus on a dialect and not MSA I'd go to italki...

Formatting Anki: using a cursive font (Hebrew)

Adding a specific font to Anki isn't too hard and in a few minutes one can set up a rare language or a stylistic font like cursive. I need to learn Hebrew cursive so after playing around a bit with it, here it an outline (borrowed heavily from the User's Manual) on what I did, hope it helps others. ...

Re: And we're back again, better than ever!

So I have solved the problem with my own log, but there is bound to be damaged pictures in other threads, and I doubt that they can be replaced as easily.. It would seem that the images in the early part of my log are gone. For example here: http://forum.language-learners.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&...

Anki and Hebrew cursive.

LWT is a little on hold while I work on my German lessons and Hebrew speeds up a bit. Finally dug into the insides on Anki and set it up so that in can present cards either in Hebrew print or Hebrew cursive. This involved setting up the right font on the Mac ... after digging around for a cursive fo...

Re: FSI German: Too Old?

... For example, I've read somewhere that "gnädige Frau" is not used today ... It seems that we have managed to register yet another round of the ritual -- and trivial -- disparaging of the FSI German Basic course. For the record, I was quoting someone else's question. "Gnädige Frau&...

Re: The Polyglot Gathering, Bratislava 2017

You don't need to - many people won't be able to speak Slovak - but it won't go amiss obviously. Although I don't think I'm learning Slovak either. I speak Czech though. Well, to a degree. Oh, it was mostly tongue-in-cheek, Slovak isn't a target language for me and all I am thinking of doing is cra...
