Re: beginner audio Mandarin Chinese

You can buy a travel phrasebook here for ~€5 with your NL and Mandarin.

https://www.loecsen.com/en/learn-chines ... df-chinese

You also get a PDF, although I ripped the PDF to text and made a load of Anki cards with audio, but you can just use the audio.

Yes, yes you do. I think you earned your free fruity drinks some time ago.

Not fair! I had to learn Finnish just to get some cookies.

Re: Radioclare's 2017 log (Croatian/Russian)

I have a Tom on one of the anki decks I downloaded for Italian (is this a thing, having a Tom in every srs?) and he is boring too. Although he recently got himself a girlfriend named Mary.

Re: Radioclare's 2017 log (Croatian/Russian)

I feel you could write a Larin izboresque drama with the life of Tom. Maybe you could use sentences about his life as a starting point? I'm seriously tempted... I was thinking the other day that maybe we should start using Tom-sentences as writing prompts for the Output Challenge. Trying to w...

Re: Can't access forum from Chrome

If you are on windows, go to a command prompt and type: nslookup forum.language-learners.org then type nslookup forum.language-learners.org 8.8.8.8 they should match. The first command checks the DNS server your machine is set to, and the second checks the google DNS server.

I also noticed that Reineke only seems to watch films and post to this forum. Either that or doesn't sleep... Not much to report. I should complete the 10k flashcard challenge in the next month or so assuming I keep doing it regularly, which is a big if. Neither activity requires much mental effort...

Re: Anecdotal evidence for extensive TV series

To use my Colombian example, I think that one episode probably contains nearly all the grammar I would hear in all 175 episodes. It's not exactly the same for vocabulary because this depends a lot of the topics in the various episodes. Oh I'm not arguing the small sample size of the vocabulary in a...

Deeply unpleasant or not, I need one, here... take my money.

Re: Rdearman (FR, IT, ZH) 2016/17 - The way of the lazy fist.

My Italian binge watching was interrupted by a computer problem. But I am doing what I can. I've decided I'm going to try to get at least 90 minutes every day before my vacation, which would net me another 90 hours of Italian. But then I realised the Polyglot gathering will interrupt my language stu...
