Re: Das Faultier der Deutschen Sprache

My studies have changed how I practise for the time being, some of which is not so great, but actually some of these changes are quite nice. I am fortunate enough to have rekindled a few friendships in which I am able to chat for hours at a time over Skype. I was not able to actually use my spoken G...

Re: LLorg London 2017

Not entirely sure whether I will still be in the UK or not, but if so I would tag along. I would feel a little silly in terms of language ability compared to the rest of you guys, though. :P

Re: Das Faultier der Deutschen Sprache

Good luck with those deadlines! I know how it is to be buried under all of them at once! About the language classes - have you checked what classes are on offer at the University? When I was in France, there were extra-curricular classes available for students to sign up to, completely free. I know...

Re: Das Faultier der Deutschen Sprache

What's time? Where has it gone, and why do I not seem able to find it currently... geesh. I will reply properly once I have sorted somethings out. I currently have 5 important pieces of work to submit, because, you know, setting pieces throughout the year would be crazy talk. It makes far more sense...

Re: How do YOU find videos on YouTube?

For TV shows in particular, never underestimate the usefulness of "in *insert language* in conjunction with the duration filter. Some of my best finds have been thanks to that, for example in German I would start off by just typing "Auf Deutsch" and have the duration set for videos ov...

Re: German group

Okay then I will think of another tip, mind's blank now. Hey Moo, it's good to have another learner! I hope to one day attain the same level as you in the not so distant future, so I would be particularly interested in what you used to get there. If you can't think of anything else to recommend at ...

Re: I can't learn a language! vs I am a slow learner!

When people say they can't learn a language, we say that's not true, I can so so can you. When people say they can learn but they are a slow learner, we say that's possible, everyone's different. Why the difference in our responses? Why don't we say to the first person: it's possible you can't lear...

Re: Pardon?

Do you think this may have something to do with intonation? For me, if I have not heard something it is almost 100% of the time the last word. My brother has a tendency to repeat the entire sentence if I say that I didn't hear, and then I still do not always hear the part I missed (the last part). I...
