Do you enjoy everything in your routine?

Throughout my 2.5 years learning Spanish I've always taken one thing for granted; there's always something about language learning I'm not going to enjoy but that will be necessary (or very helpful) to drive improvement. I'm in the process of evaluating exactly how I approach language learning and I...

Re: A(nother) Spanish Log - Transition from Intermediate to Advanced

I think either you have to get a reason to learn Spanish in other words what you ACTUALLY enjoy doing in Spanish ... Hey Sayonaroo - You said a lot of things that really rang true and if I had to summarize your post in a few words, I’d say you’re saying, “give it time and have fun.” Luckily, there’...

Re: A(nother) Spanish Log - Transition from Intermediate to Advanced

This was a pretty productive week for Spanish. Reading: I covered 108 pages this week. - New Penguin Parallel Text Short Stories in Spanish (100/100) This book is a collection of short stories by contemporary writers from around the Spanish speaking world. The accompanying translations on each page ...

Re: The inevitable (?) plateau

... What doesn't work for me; listening to music, watching movies or TV with English subtitles, watching TV without subtitles when I can't understand much spoken language, reviewing easy stuff when I should be struggling with something new. Can't really speak to watching TV or movies, but for music...

Re: Chmury - Un Cielo Claro

Re: Lists lists lists

I’m learning Spanish, by the way. Also, most of these channels are maintained by Latin Americans. An impressive and very useful list. I see a couple of episodes of VideoEle have helpful subtitles in Spanish. I assume they all must have subtitles. A couple of misleading links, maybe? Magic Markers b...

Re: The inevitable (?) plateau

Some pretty solid suggestions above. I’d just add that the range of reactions you have regarding your progress in Spanish are pretty common. Many days, I tether on the edge of being convinced that I’m a language learning genius and wondering if I’ll ever progress. Your stubborn resolve to move forwa...

Re: Lists lists lists

Nice thread. Here are a few things that come to mind: 1. ‘Language learning’ apps I that I actually manage to use almost daily - Radio FM - radio stations from countries worldwide. Stations are tagged with the usual content they carry and can be ‘favourited’ for quick access. - Google Translate - re...

Re: A(nother) Spanish Log - Transition from Intermediate to Advanced

Lamentations of an Intermediate Spanish Speaker I’m not sure where I’m going with this entry. I’ll start by saying that I’m frustrated not only with how my Spanish has been going lately, but with some general observations while lounging here at the intermediate level. 1. Where’s the progress?! &quo...

Re: A(nother) Spanish Log - Transition from Intermediate to Advanced

By the way, are there any other news programs or talk shows you like to watch in Spanish? Not really. Al Punto is by far the best I've found so far. "Despierta con Carlos Loret" is a good morning news show with very little of the silly fluff that characterizes most Mexican tv. Carlos talk...
