Re: Lilly's log - French, Russian and reluctant Spanish

Of course, I now tease him that I will make him sit with me and watch all seven seasons of it. I'm forcing my husband to watch Ministerio del Tiempo with me which is hilariously bad. Even worse for him since he's a native speaker. At least we both have something to complain about :D That's what's k...

Re: The Chronicles of An Overly Ambitious Soon To Be 20 year old.

Benny had a massive influence on me at the time and I thought B2 in 3 months was really possible. I tried extremely valiantly but failed, but I'm glad I tried nevertheless. If it hadn't been German but Spanish you probably would have succeeded with the B2 in 3months, at least passive. German is jus...

Re: Lilly's log - French, Russian and reluctant Spanish

Russian One audio file of Modern Russian. 1h of writing out the workbook exercises. I made mistakes here and there, on aspect mostly, but overall not too bad. lang8 is a bit difficult for grammar exercises because people also correct use of too simple language. I'm getting really a lot out of it th...

At least, if I fail law I can console myself with being able to watch Kaamelott without subtitles :D And that's why I left most of my language learning for after finishing high workload degrees! With those kinds of degrees integrating language learning is really difficult, unless you're past the co...

(Or is it higher? Are we digging or climbing?)

What makes it so difficult is that it might actually be both at the same time. In fact, sometimes it also seems more like a 4D problem to me

Re: Why Are Europeans Thinner than Americans?

Snacking on what exactly? Honestly advice on things like that is best given by people with university degrees in nutrition. I wish! Nutrition is a very ideologically biased subject. Lots of studies have been misinterpreted due to errors in using statistics and these misinterpretations have then inf...

Re: Xmmm's Russian log

This seems to indicate that it's roughly four times harder to acquire vocabulary in Russian than it is in Italian. Mostly this is due to cognates but I think it also has to do with the fact that 90% of Russian verbs are six syllables long and start with the letter п. Nooooooooo! I think it he...

Re: Lilly's log - French, Russian and reluctant Spanish

Would you say the Harry Potter series was a good first choice to use with your LWT method in terms of the language used, difficulty of sentences, etc? I have never read the books in English, so I have no comparison. Oh yes, it was a very good choice! They increase in difficulty, so the further you ...

Re: Lilly's log - French, Russian and reluctant Spanish

Russian 3h of reading, the rest was daily stuff (some Duolingo, some clozemaster, listening to an audiobok), 1 audio file of Modern Russian, no Assimil. It helped to read in the morning rather than later in the day. Russian hours: 4.13h. French 40min of a France culture documentary about the Bauhau...

Re: Do you enjoy everything in your routine?

I hated anki, so I replaced it by intensive reading. The brain avoids uncomfortable situations so if you hate something, your brain will try to forget it. Pointless exercise. I really don't think anki made any impact at all for my Russian, although I spent 50h on it. Never again! I also don't partic...
