Re: Werk, Obair, Rad, Kazi - the four steps to success

I have mixed results to report. The bad news is that I had only 3 days of activity last week. The good(?) news is that that week was more active than any one of the three preceding it, and almost as much as all of them combined (4 days). I don't anticipate anything revolutionary this week, just incr...

Re: LLorg London 2017

I don't know really, personally I'm more into group activities and language games rather than sightseeing, but let's see what the others say.

I've heard that there are a lot of good Italian comedies, if that's your thing.

10. Charles Darwin - On the Origin of Species I always tell myself I'm going to read that book one day... but never do. What did you think of it? It's indispensable reading material if you're at all interested in biology and evolution, and it makes pretty clear how evolution works (and we have to r...

Re: Werk, Obair, Rad, Kazi - the four steps to success

I transferred my logged days of any activity to the lang calendar and the results are in: -January: 5 days (though these were somewhat more intensive than the rest) -February: 12 days -March: 9 days -April: a grand total of 1 day last week Drawing the line it's almost as if my only language learning...

Wow, way to go. Meanwhile, some others struggle to get in any language learning progress.

Re: Werk, Obair, Rad, Kazi - the four steps to success

This week I did nothing. I'm yet to commit to the language learning first in the morning and me chasing a deadline certainly doesn't help. I always neglect other things when I have deadlines ahead. Or maybe morning first is the wrong approach. Sometimes I wake up early, but am not much of a morning ...

Re: Memory for moving and static images

Interesting. It could be used as mnemonic for more difficult words, but I still don't think it's worth the time to add video or audio material to hundreds of flashcards, let alone thousands.

Re: Werk, Obair, Rad, Kazi - the four steps to success

Hello there! I can relate to your frustration: you pick certain courses and decide you can't stand them, life fills your days with multiple priorities, you're not sure of goals, etc. Maybe something you can do is to step back from your languages and think, Why do I want to learn this? I am not sure...

I agree. As a key point in the article puts it:
“The brain is very plastic, meaning that it can be shaped by learning and experience,” added Dr Chai.
